Out-of-Class Drawings (Assignments)
- Process over Product: 3 drawings of the skeleton should contain 10 hidden cross-contour line drawings within it. Each drawing should take only 15 mins. Sand down, obfuscate, or erase each drawing of the observed skeleton before drawing atop the same surface.
- Scroll : Make a 15-foot long scroll by observing the human skeleton from different vantage points as the source for a spatial exploration using mark and line.
- Diptych: Make two drawings that tell the story of moving through that place. As you begin to work, repeatedly cycle through and reassess the angles of your chosen space, leaving your previous observations visible; build up a history of “searching” lines within your drawing.
- Now and Then : Make at least 3 drawings of a same space but explore how the space changes as light changes over time
- The Pile: Respond to piles in the landscape by making three observational drawings
- Reinvention Drawing Series : Reinvent and reinterpret a masterpiece. The forms and light in your drawings should initially be derived from observation,
